On Wednesday, we had the honor of presenting another Steampunk Illusionist Show and the show received a standing ovation. We also made sure to video tape the show and were fairly happy with the results we saw. However, as with any performer who is honest with themselves, there was plenty in there that needs adjusting and fixing. It's not anything an audience would likely notice, but we certainly saw things that should be fixed or simply adjusted.
Whenever I say 'we', I'm referring to my #1 super awesome assistant Denise who does more magic behind the scenes than I could possibly do in front of the curtain. She is amazing!
Right now the Steampunk Illusionist has about a dozen effects to choose from for the smaller version of the show. We will be adding some new material to the show shortly. And will be working on a big project in a few days!!!!

Edgar Allan Poe Art & Magic
First, Happy Birthday to Mr. Poe, who was born January 19th, 1809 in Boston, one of my favorite cities. He died in Baltimore, the place of my birth. The image above is a painting I did of Poe maybe ten years ago. I was busy doing paintings of magicians at the time, and I had a book, The Collected Works of E.A. Poe, on my shelf and it was sitting in such a position that I could see Poe's face every time I looked at the shelf. One day, I grabbed a pencil and my sketch pad and jotted down the sketch that would later become my painting. For years, the Poe painting was the ONLY none magician painting I had done.
Now, it appears that Poe is about to find his way into my new show The Steampunk Illusionist. Where exactly, I'm not at liberty to say. But I am about 99% certain it won't have anything to do with The Raven. I'm quite thrilled with the direction the routine is taking. Perhaps once we debut it, we can post a video for you. Until then, you'll have to enjoy the artwork instead and you can enjoy the magic another time.

Steampunk Illusionist Dot Com Is LIVE
After months of design work and integrating a special system into the site, it's finally completed. Though, is anything ever truly done? I know the header is going to be replaced in a few days once I get the new header design back from the graphics firm. And there are some cosmetic changes I'll be making to the body of the site here and there. So, I suppose it's never done, but at least it's up and has officially replaced the old site which was more of a place holder than anything.
We have been scheduling shows for the Steampunk Illusionist for a while. From the start the shows were going to be a three part project. Step 1 was to design a simple show I could take out on my own. Step 2 was to design a two person show complete with at least one big illusion. Step 3 is a much grander project, which is a show which is part play, part magic show. Step 3 has not been accomplished as of yet, we are still writing that show. But the Steampunk Illusionist will still be out there doing shows, making appearances and traveling back and forth in time (part of the show concept).
